Time to Reflect....

Creating weblog is as easy as ABC… one do not need to learn any programming language to create their own blog as there are many available blog host online. Just a simple online registration to get an account and posting of blog is as easy as just writing out your thoughts and click ‘Post’!

I have always thought that the process would be tedious and being a lazy me, would not want to attempt to set up a blog account. But now, through this assignment, I learn that blog is really a good channel to express your thoughts, opinions and a good platform to practice your writing. But one will have to be a responsible blogger, not to use it as a medium for creating trouble by spreading nonsensical message or opinion that are not true.

The New Dynasty of Media Publishing...

Welcome to the new dynasty of media publishing!!!

It is no longer restricted to PRINT only, as most of the print material could be found online as well. This is save us from the storage space & whole lot of convienences.

Space = Online version can be archived easily which saves us the storage space.
Convenience = Can find the piece of article easily with just a search away ^_^

For example, in Singapore, we have the 2 daily free newspapers, ‘My Paper’ & ‘Today’. Both are very well-received and both are available online as well. It's exactly the PDF version from the printed. Hence, it's just as good as reading the papers online.

But has Print loses it's attractiveness?

Not for me! I may be old-fashioned but i personally still prefer to read the printed version as compared to the online version as i find that online reading is too strenuous for my eyes...

Print vs Online Designing

When I am doing Assignment 2 for Issues in Publication and Design, I have to do both printed and online version of subject, ‘Airheads’. Just a Microsoft PowerPoint can allow me to design freely to my expected result. However, this is not as easy for website. No doubt I did learn some HTML language before, I am still not well-versed in it. Hence, in designing website, more time is required as there are a lot of limitations in web designing. I have to take note not to squeeze too many information in the webpage as online user has the screen limitation whereby, more information will require more scrolling and it’s added strain to the eyes.

For print, I have more space for creativity with the different kind of texture, sizes and different fold, etc to play with.

No doubt, for convenient sake, I prefer to look for information online. However, when it comes to designing, I still prefer PRINT…

Blog and Us

I am not sure when did the blogging craze started. It just seems to have invaded us overnight, all my friends started to have their own blog and everyone is discussing about it. They are all proud of their published thoughts and would always like to share their views and opinions in their blogs. They would also add in a lot of pictures or even made the effort to design their blog.

Blogging has indeed indirectly created many published author.... and i am proud to say that i am one of them now:>

Then, businesses also captured this phenomenon and make use of blog as a new marketing tool. It’s a free form of publicity as no cost is required. They uses blog to introduce their new products and development of their company and products, so as to create a connection with the consumers. But whether does it really work, it's up to individual to judge...

Ugly Peggy's 1st attempt!

I have always enjoy reading my friends' blog, but have never tried to blog. I feel that blogging would required a lot of thinking on my part because if i want to blog, i would want to look intelligent to the readers! Hence, inorder not to embarass myself, i have never attempted to blog.

However, this is an exception! I have to blog inorder to score for my assignment. The assignment required me to discuss blogging, issues affecting media and electronic publishing and design considerations for publishing online.

Who knows, maybe i would fall in love with blogging after this assignment!
